In the time of the Buddha, there was a monk called "Chittahaththa". "Chittahaththa" Thero was a lay farmer. So, priestly life took some time. The mind is agitated, he always remembers the time he was at home. So where he went wrong he hides a hoe under the bush and went to be ordained. Now he is meditating under a tree. He remembers the hoe. Now this work is difficult. Controlling the mind is not an easy task. This takes a lot of hard work. It's unthinkable.
See, some Arahants became Arahants at the age of seven. A seven-year-old boy says he can't do anything alone. The wisdom of such a child developed to that level means that there must be a great power of merit. Now that Chittahattha Thero had the power of merit.
So this Thero remembered home and went home. The day he went home, the wife said, "Oh, how nice of you to be here." I was very happy and prepared delicious food. Two, three days later that care was gone. Then he thought, "Oh, how good it is the monastic life? What am I doing here?" Then he took the hoe again and went to the field and hid the hoe under the bush. Then he went to the temple and said, "Please, my lord, make me a monk again." Again he became a monk. He was fine for days. Then he remembered, "Oh, she cooks what I want. I want to see my wife" He went home again. He was treated again for two or three days. Two, three days later that care was lost again.
He went like this seven times. When he saw her for the seventh time, she was sleeping soundly. He saw filth dripping from her mouth. Seeing this, he blamed himself in his own heart. '' Hey idiot. Are you giving up liberation for the sake of this body? Why do you give up liberation, you fool? ” He scolded him like this and picked up the hoe again. When he went to the bush, he thought, "This is the hoe that destroyed me." So, he threw a hoe and then he became a monk. Now the mind is free. He understood the Dhamma.
When this monk was ordained, the other monks hoped that he would return home, even though he had been ordained. So they ask, "Where is the hoe? Don't you feel like going home now?” he replied."No, I threw them all away." He never went home again after that.
Look, dear ones, Giving up is not an easy thing to do.
May the Triple Gem bless you all.
